4. Finite Verb Forms- Positive (Expressing time, contours of time and speaker attitude)
The following is a set of forms of the finite verb to indicate the time of occurrence, nature of occurrence such as habitual and probability, contours of time such as durative and speaker attitude of an action such as affecting self. The sentences in colloquial Tamil are given first and the sentences in formal Tamil are given second.

(The present tense is used when the habitual action is stated as recurring and
the future tense is used when the habitual action is stated as customary)
