ஆட்டோவில் போவதை விட நடப்பது நல்லது என்று ராஜா சொன்னதால், ஜிம் ராஜா வீட்டுக்கு நடந்தே வந்தார். அவருக்கு ராஜாவோடு பேச நிறைய விஷயம் இருந்தது. அன்றைக்கு பேச நேரமும் கிடைத்தது. இரண்டு பேரும் பேச ஆரம்பித்தார்கள். ஜிம் ராஜாவிடம் இந்துக் கோயில்களைப் பற்றிக் கேட்டார்.
இந்துக் கோயில்கள் சிற்பங்களுக்குப் பேர் போனவை. அவைகளைப் போல சிற்பங்களை வேறு எங்கும் பார்க்க முடியாது. அந்தக் காலத்தில் சிற்பங்களைக் கல்லிலும் செய்தார்கள்; வெங்கலத்திலும் செய்தார்கள். அவற்றை இன்று கோயில் தூண்களிலிலும் கர்ப்பக்கிரகத்திலும் பார்க்கலாம். ஜிம்முக்கு இவற்றைப் பார்க்க மிகவும் ஆசை. ஆனால் அவரைக் கோயிலுக்குள் விடவில்லை. இதில் அவருக்கு மிகவும் வருத்தம். இதைப் பற்றி அவர் ராஜாவிடம் கேட்டார். ராஜா இந்து மதத்தில் தீண்டாமை இருந்ததைப் பற்றிச் சொன்னார். இதை எதிர்த்துக் காந்தி தலைமையில் போராட்டம் நடந்தது. அதன் பிறகு கோயிலுக்குள் யாரும் போகலாம் என்று சட்டம் வந்தது. ஆனாலும், நடைமுறையில் இன்னும் எதிர்ப்பு இருக்கிறது.

(The form of அவை before case markers is அவற்று: அவற்றை etc., but அவைகளை. The form of அது before case markers is அதன்: அதனை etc., but it is optional except in the dative instrumental cases: அதற்கு (அது+அன்+க்கு), அதனால். In colloquial Tamil, the plural form is not used and the singular does not have a form with -அன்- (அதுக்கு), அதாலே ‘by it’, அதுனாலே ‘because of it’))

(போன்ற is the adjective form of போல, but the colloquial Tamil uses only போல)

The following stop consonant doubles after பற்றி, சுற்றி (like it does after verbal participle that ends in இ). Doubling is optional after the infinite-like forms விட, போல.
